meet your designer
Hi, I’m Sarah. I am the designer behind Essay Studio. I always knew I wanted to be a graphic designer and studied it to degree level. I started my design career at the British Film Institute, worked for years in a multi-disciplinary design agency and then spent 5 years in marketing at Christie’s Fine Art Auctioneers where I managed the global design team.
When I had my first child, I left Christie’s and within 6 months I opened my own e-commerce business, a kid’s lifestyle store called Archie’s. I ran this business alongside raising my three young children for 7 years and built up a loyal customer base who enjoyed the design-led curation of independent brands I stocked. I managed every element of Archie’s myself from design to buying, accounts to social media - I enjoyed it so much and it made me fall in love with the small business community.
Feeling that I needed to stretch my wings and flex my creative muscles a bit more, I opened my own design studio in 2018, subsequently closing Archie’s to concentrate on Essay Studio. My wealth of experience in the design world and as an indie business owner has given me a passion for supporting small businesses with outstanding branding, packaging and website solutions that elevate and inspire. Since 2018 I have worked with over 100 independent brands to do just that.
